What is Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and why is it important?
HDD is a trenchless technology that allows us to install pipelines and utilities under rivers, roads, swamps, and urban areas without open-cut excavation. This method reduces environmental impact, minimizes surface disruption, and is safer and more cost-efficient for complex crossings.
What is Enikkom’s track record with HDD projects in Nigeria?
Enikkom pioneered HDD in Nigeria, completing the first River Niger crossing in 2003. Since then, we have executed over 120km of HDD installations, including record-setting projects such as Africa’s longest single drill (3.1km) and Nigeria’s deepest HDD crossing (80m depth).
Do you own your equipment or rely on subcontractors?
We own the largest fleet of HDD rigs, dredgers, and support equipment in Nigeria and West Africa. This includes maxi HDD rigs (up to 500T pullback capacity), thrust boring machines, micro-tunneling units, and cutter suction dredgers. Owning our equipment gives us a competitive edge in efficiency, cost control, and reliability.
